Bobby Goldsboro

About the Artist

Bobby Goldsboro (born 1941) Bobby Goldsboro, born Robert Charles Goldsboro in Marianna, Florida, is an American pop/country singer-songwriter whose sentimental ballads defined late-1960s easy listening. Starting in the early 1960s with regional success, he broke through with “See the Funny Little Clown” (1964, Top 10). His signature hit “Honey” (1968, No. 1 Hot 100) sold millions—a tearjerker about a dying wife—followed by “Summer (The First Time),” “Watching Scotty Grow,” and “Autumn of My Life.” Goldsboro hosted his own TV show (The Bobby Goldsboro Show, 1973–1976) and transitioned to country in the 1970s–1980s. He retired from performing in the 2010s but remains celebrated for his storytelling style. As of 2026 (age 85), he celebrated his birthday quietly; no active touring, but his catalog endures on oldies/country radio. Goldsboro’s heartfelt, narrative-driven pop captures the era’s romantic melancholy and crossover appeal
